In a nutshell
Achinoam Nini אחינועם ניני (known also as NOA), Israeli born of Yemenite origin, raised in the US, resides in Israel with her husband and 3 children. She is Israel’s leading international singer/songwriter, having shared the stage with superstars such as Sting, Pat Metheny, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli and many more, and is Israel’s first Good Will Ambassador for FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN. She has also been named Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Sergio Mattarella of Italy. Among her many accolades is the Crystal Award of the World Economic Forum, where she was also chosen a Global Leader of Tomorrow.
Noa wrote lyrics to and recorded the hugely successful theme song for the Academy Award winning film “La Vita e Bella” and the award winning Luc Besson film “Jeanne d’Arc”. She sings in six languages, has collaborated with Symphony Orchestras around the world, and performed in the world’s most prestigious venues, including the White House and Carnegie Hall. Beyond her passionate commitment to music, Noa dedicates much of her time to promoting peace and dialogue between Israel and Palestine and to various social issues, volunteering extensively for organizations in these fields. She was the only leading Israeli artist to agree to perform in the historic peace rally where Yitzchak Rabin was murdered, and has since become Israel’s most outstanding celebrity advocate for the two state solution. Noa has collaborated with numerous artists in the Arab world, including Khaled from Algeria and Nabil Salameh from Lebanon, but most notably with Israeli /Palestinian artist Mira Awad, with whom she represented Israel in the 2009 Eurovision, singing before and audience of many millions in Arabic, English and Hebrew. Noa is on the board of the New Israel Fund, the Um El Fahem Museum of Art, the Arava Desert Institute and the Polyphony Music project of Nazareth. She raises her voice against injustice and for human rights and equality in Israel and abroad, in song and writing, whenever possible.
It is Noa’s belief that artists can and should be leaders in society, connecting people on the highest and deepest level possible.
